Keeping Cut Floers

2 An important thing to remember about cut floers is that they are sensitive to temperature. The making of seeds also depends on this energy. hile all living things respire, floers have a high level of respiration. A result of all this respiration is heat, and for floers the level of heat relative to the mass of the floer is very high. Respiration also brings about the eventual death of the floer. Thus the greater the level of respiration, the sooner the floer dies.
4 Ho, then, to control the rate at hich floers die? By controlling respiration. Ho is respiration controlled? By controlling temperature. e kno that respiration produces heat, but the reverse is also true. Thus by maintaining lo temperatures, respiration is reduced and the cut floer ill age more sloly.
5 Another vital factor in keeping cut floers is the quality of the ater in hich they are placed. Floers find it difficult to "drink" ater that is dirty or otherise polluted. Even hen ater looks and smells clean, it almost certainly contains harmful substances that can endanger the floers. To rid the ater of these unanted substances, household chlorine bleach(含氯漂白劑)can be used in small quantities. It is recommended that 15 drops of chlorine bleach(at 4% solution)be added to each liter of ater. The ater and solution should also be replaced each day.
